JAZZ

Ginai is a phenomenal singer / songwriter that has worked many years to become one of Hawaii’s most accomplished entertainers and jazz artists! She is stunningly beautiful and engagingly self-confident when performing any genre, but her love is Jazz (and R&B). She has 8 CD releases in Japan (Genai, Video Arts Music), three Hawaiian Music Awards (2010, 2006, 2000), one Na Hoku Hanohano award winning CD ( Hula Joe & The Hutjumpers, 2000), and is still a hot commodity on the local circuit. Whether it is at a local fundraiser (Royal Hawaiian Re-opening Gala, American Heart Association, Children’s Miracle Network…) or the cover of Midweek Magazine (4 times!) and Honolulu Magazine, Ginai is still on fire! Her CD, “Jazz Island” is played on jazz stations across the country, while the CD “Live at the Dragon Upstairs” made the final in the 2009 Hoku Na Hanohano Awards for Best Jazz CD.

Ginai is releasing her latest recording entitled “Come Together” with longtime mentor and now musical partner Pierre Grill. She is currently performing with Hawaii’s newest sensation The Hot Club of Hulaville as their chanteuse, taking you back to the hey-days of Gypsy Jazz. She has opened for Diana Krall, Lou Rawls, and Bruce Hornsby with the Honolulu Symphony Pops Orchestra’s led by maestro Matt Catingub. She has added T.V. host to her resume with her shows, “Ginai’s Jazz Island”, and other soon to be announced projects.
R&B

Ginai has performed classic R&B and Dance hits from the 60’s on through to the 90’s. Locally, she fronted dance bands like EIGHT-0-EIGHT, THE PARADISE SISTERS, AND THE MOTOR CITY ANGELS! Ginai has also wowed crowds worldwide impersonating the globally famous R&B Diva Whitney Houston (Legends in Concert Hawaii & Las Vegas, and Aloha Las Vegas) and has had leading roles in DREAMGIRLS twice!! Her star powered performances match that of not only the aforementioned Diva, but exude the energy the likes of Tina Turner while maintaining the sultry stylings of Diana Ross.

While on stage with the Honolulu Symphony Pops Orchestra, she paid tribute to legendary Ray Charles alongside his only protégé, Ellis Hall. She opened for Ray Charles in the 1990’s to an astonished crowd. She took the stage with Michael McDonald for an amazing career high, and played for Stevie Wonder at Nick’s Fishmarket. Brian McKnight was impressed with her as his opening act in January of 2009, during the National Bar Association’s Inaugural Ball in DC. Her command of the stage is unmatched in all of Honolulu which makes her top-of-the-list when it comes to high ticket fundraisers, celebrity events, and opening act performances. Check with Tom Moffat, concert promoter….ask Don Chapman, editor of MidWeek magazine…confer with Matt Catingub of the Honolulu Symphony. There is none like her. Ginai!
